Together with social networks, emails are a good way to keep in touch with those old friends of ours. Read the e-mail below paying attention to its meaning, to the kind of relationship that Lindy and Teresa have and to the level of language formality. Date: Wed, 27 Apr.20:07:36 + 0100 (BST) From: “Lindy Cameron” Subject: RE: Do you remember me? To: “Teresa Tate” Dear Teresa, How wonderful to hear from you! Of course I remember you, although it’s nearly seven years since we were neighbors. How did you get my email address? You told me a little about you and your family, and now I’d like to know more. You asked me how we all are, so here’s some of our news. First things first – George and I are now divorced! I know you never liked him much, so you are probably not too surprised. However, we still see each other a lot because of the twins. They’re nine now, and they’re good girls, although, of course, sometimes a bit of handful. We moved from Birmingham because I didn’t want them to grow up in a big city. We now live in a beautiful, old farmhouse in Wales. I love country life. We have lots of land, so we grow all our own vegetables and keep a few chicken. However, it’s all very expensive to look after, and although I sell some of our produce to the local shops, we never have enough money for holidays and treats, but we’re happy and healthy. I can’t wait to hear more of your news. Write very soon. Please come to stay. I’d love to see you again. Love, Lindy X. SOARS, J; SOARS, L. New Headway Pre-Intermediate Student’s book. 4ª ed. Oxford, Oxford University Press, 2016 (adaptado). Imagine you are Teresa, the friend to whom Lindy wrote the e-mail above. Write the e-mail that Teresa wrote BEFORE the e-mail you read. Do not forget to include information that Lindy comments about, including: -a question to check whether Lindy remembers you (Teresa); -some information about your (Teresa’s) family; -a question about how Lindy and her family are. Write your e-mail in first person, pretending you are Teresa. Include appropriate e-mail greetings and goodbye phrases and use an appropriate kind of language regarding formality/informality. You must write the e-mail IN ENGLISH, and it must have from 130 to 150 words.

Dear Lindy,

Hi! How has it been? I’m Teresa, your old neighbor from Birmingham. Do you remember me? I’m writing this email because I wanted to know how you’ve been doing and so we can catch up a little.

I still live in the same place and things aren’t so different from what they were when you lived here. Phill and I are still married and Jack, our son, is now 18 years old. He moved to London to study Economics at LSE. It’s now only me and Phill in the house, since our dog sadly passed away a few months ago.

So, what about your life? How is George and your family? I’m looking forward to have some news about the twins. They must have grown so much since the last time I saw them. Please write back very soon and come visit us some time!

Love,

Teresa
