Explicação:

"One of" significa "um dos", então se você põe "one of" na frase, ela fica no plural. Pra resolver o exercício, bastava deixar as palavras no singular e tirar o "one of".  

Exemplo:

That's John. He's one of our friends.

Esse é o John. Ele é um dos nossos amigos.

That's John. He's a friend.

Esse é o John. Ele é um amigo.
