The Fox & the Grapes
A Fox one day spied a beautiful bunch of ripe
grapes hanging from a vine trained along the branches
of a tree. The grapes seemed ready to burst with juice,
and the Fox's mouth watered as he gazed longingly at

The bunch hung from a high branch, and the Fox
had to jump for it. The first time he jumped he missed

Clássica história da raposa e as uvas.

Podemos nos colocar no lugar da raposa e dar para a uva a representação de um objeto que queremos muito. Por diversas vezes, tentamos alcançá-lo, empregando todas as habilidades que temos guardadas. A depender das circunstâncias, desenvolvemos outras a fim de obter sucesso. Eventualmente, nossos saltos não evitarão o fracasso.

Como forma de amenizar o baque, concluímos que tal meta não valia tanto a pena assim. Criamos justificativas enfadonhas com o intuito de nos defender de críticas pelo fracasso, bem como o nosso julgamento interno. Mentimos a nós mesmos e para o mundo, tentando ridicularizar tal objeto.
