The attendant was surprised to see the penguin was still in the back of the man's car. ‘But I thought you were taking him to the zoo’, said the attendant. ‘I did, thanks!’, answered the man. ‘He loved it, so I'm taking him to the beach today’. Why was the expectation broken? *

The expectation was broken because when he the man says he's taking the penguim to the zoo we imagine that he is going to leave the penguim there, and not walk with him though the city like a kid.
