Saiba quando usar In Spite of, Despite e Although:
Os três são usados para indicar a ideia de contraste e possuem o mesmo significado. A diferença é a forma (estrutura) em que cada uma dessas palavras é empregada: enquanto "in spite of" and "despite" (que não tem um "of" depois dele) são colocados na frente de um substantivo ou pronome, "although" é usado na frente de um sujeito e de um verbo. Na ocasião em que "in spite of" e "despite" forem utilizados em frente da frase "the fact that", é correto utilizá-los com um sujeito e um verbo.
Exemplos:
I had a fantastic time in spite of the incident.
I had a fantastic time despite the incident.
