- 5 ( x - 4 ) + 4 = 2 ( - 2x - 2 ) + 9
- 5x + 20 + 4 = - 4x - 4 + 9
- 5x + 4x = - 4 + 9 - 20 - 4
- x = 5 - 20 - 4
- x = - 15 - 4
- x = - 19 • ( - 1 )
x = 19
