Hi, there! My name is Julie and I’m going to tell you some facts about Halloween in the United States. Let’s start with the costumes. Many people dress up strange ones. Children are used to dressing up as pirates, ghosts, vampires, witches, creatures, princesses, or popular heroes like Spiderman and Superman. Children and adults go to Halloween parties to have fun. There is a game called bobbing for apples. People fill a barrel up with water until the top or head. Apples are put as well, and to win the game you have to take these apples out without using your hands. Only with your mouth. So, this is why this game is sometimes hard and players get extremely wet! Jack-O’Lanterns are not the only Halloween decorations. People decorate windows of houses and schools with cut-out figures of witches, black cats, skeletons and ghosts. In the evening, children knock on their neighbor’s doors and yell Trick or treat! When the doors open, it is expected to earn some sweets, fruits or toys. Please, don’t mind me. Some friends of mine are calling me to go around in our neighborhood. It is Halloween night!
