Simple Past

No Simple Past, já vimos que as ações ocorrem sempre em um tempo determinado  no passado, e por isso é comum encontrarmos a presença de marcadores  de tempo, tais como, yesterday (ontem), last night (a noite passada), last Sunday  (domingo passado), last month (o mês passado), last year (o ano passado), some  minutes ago (alguns minutos atrás), this morning (hoje de manhã), etc.

Quando utilizamos o Simple Past, para nos referirmos a ações que ocorreram  em um tempo definido no passado, subentende-se que essas ações estão completamente  finalizadas, ou seja, nenhuma reação referente a elas recai ou tem interferência  sobre o presente momento.
