→→ Segunda Condicional - situação hipotética >> quando queremos falar sobre algo que não tem possibilidade real de acontecer, usamos a segunda condicional. O verbo no passado indica a condição e ''would'' + verbo indica o resultado futuro.

(1) Conditional Sentences (Second Conditional)

As sentenças condicionais (conditional sentences) em inglês são utilizadas quando uma frase possui 2 (ou mais) cláusulas e elas apresentam uma relação de dependência.

As conditional sentences são divididas em cinco tipos:

  • zero
  • first
  • second
  • third
  • mixed

Para falar sobre coisas improváveis, no presente ou no futuro, utiliza-se a SECOND CONDITIONAL.

A Second Conditional é formada por:

  • IF clause;
  • uma sentença no Simple Past;
  • uma outra sentença que apresenta os auxiliares modais (would, could, might, should) junto do verbo principal.

(2) Modal verbs

Os verbos modais, ou modal verbs, em inglês, são utilizados junto de outro verbo, para atribuir sentido indicando a modalidade. Eles podem indicar:

  • capacidade
  • habilidade
  • possibilidade
  • permissão
  • probabilidade
  • entre muitos outros

Alguns dos verbos modais possuem sentido muito parecido, mas distinguem no uso conforme graus de formalidade exigidos/apresentados no contexto.

Regras de uso:

  • Os verbos modais são utilizados sem o TO, e nunca são flexionados.
  • Em frases negativas o NOT vem depois do verbo.
  • Em frases interrogativas o verbo modal antecede o sujeito.

  • MAY
  • MIGHT

(3) Interpretação de texto

A interpretação de texto se alia ao conhecimento de vocabulário na tarefa de realizar uma tradução ou interpretação que mantenha o significado e seja clara e compreensível na língua resultado.

Vocabulário

Para entender um texto ou frase não precisamos conhecer todas as palavras que nele se encontram, mas possuindo uma base segura de vocabulário podemos compreender do que se trata o texto assim como boa parte do sentido das frases.

Contexto

O próximo passo é juntar as palavras e buscar compreender um contexto possível, onde todos os sentidos possíveis de cada palavra são analisados e é formada uma sequência lógica que se encaixa.

(4) Simple Past

É utilizado em língua inglesa para se referir a ações já concluídas (tiveram início e fim no passado).

As regras para formar o Simple past:

  • Na forma afirmativa: acrescentar ED, IED, ou D ao final do verbo regular, no modo infinitivo e sem o TO;
  • Na forma negativa: é utilizado o auxiliar DID para indicar o tempo verbal, assim o verbo aparece no tempo presente. A estrutura é: Sujeito - DID NOT (DIDN'T) - verbo - complemento.
  • Na forma interrogativa: também utiliza o auxiliar DID. A frase é iniciada pelo DID e segue a mesma estrutura padrão, podendo ou não apresentar o NOT.

Verbos irregulares não seguem um padrão:

  • O verbo eat se torna ate;
  • go se torna went;
  • write se torna wrote, etc.
