⇒⇒ Modal verbs >> são verbos ''diferentes'' que possuem características próprias. São usados para auxiliar o verbo principal da frase. Não são conjugados, não recebem ''s'' na terceira pessoa do singular, não têm plural. São sempre escritos da mesma forma, independente do contexto. Não têm tradução se estiverem sozinhos, sem um verbo em seguida.

‘’Might’’ pode ser usado para:

a. expressar  possibilidade  remota (menos usado) ou permissão formal

Might I borrow your eraser? >> Posso usar sua borracha?

It might rain tomorrow. >> É capaz de chover amanhã (hoje está sol)

John might get home later because it´s snowing tonight.

b. give/ask for permission - dar / pedir permissão

You may leave now, James. >> Você pode sair agora, James.

May I go to the bathroom? >> Posso ir ao banheiro? (mais formal)

c. express wishes - expressar desejo

May your dreams come true. >> Que seus sonhos se tornem realidade.

d. guess events – prever eventos

Lizz is late. She may be at home. >> Lizz está atrasada. Ela deve estar em casa ainda.
