Para transformar verbos regulares no presente para o passado basta adicionar ed.
Ex: play - played
punch - punched
Verbos irregulares não possuem o ed. Possuem uma terminação diferente para cada um.
Ex: eat - ate
go - went

b)the students studied (to study)all night yesterday.
