O momento condicional, ou segunda condicional, é o momento condicional utilizado para trocas teóricas específicas como dentro da frase "Na hipótese remota de que Mathias tivesse a força, ele iria para a montanha-russa.

Portanto, isto no caso de essa cláusula poder ser uma especulação que irá ou não acontecer. Na língua inglesa há três tipos de frases condicionais: primeira condicional, segunda condicional e terceira condicional. Em todos os casos, o objetivo é comunicar o pensamento de suspeição.
