Chapter I

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife.
However little known the feelings or views of such a man may be on his first entering a neighborhood, this truth is so well fixed in the minds of the surrounding families, that he is considered as the rightful property of some one or the other of their daughters.

AUSTEN, J. Pride and prejudice. London: HUP, 2010, p. 1.

The opening sentence of the book announces its theme, which is:
Alternativa 1: the arriving of a rich man in a poor neighborhood.
Alternativa 2: the way-of-life of a successful family life at the camp.
Alternativa 3: the choice of a good property in a wealthy surrounding.
Alternativa 4: the thoughts of an aristocratic society about love and marriage.
Alternativa 5: the feeling of a man who had to move from the city to the country.
