Bob Dylan

Robert Allen Zimmerman wa s born in Duluth, Minnesota, in 1941, and loved music, especially blues, from a young age. He formed several bands and played so loudly at a high school talent show that the principal had to cut the microphone off. He changed his name to Bob Dylan, moved to New York City, and began writing songs and performing them. In 1963, he released his second album, The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan. It included what became the most famous song of the times, Blowin’ in the Wind. The album made Dylan a legend overnight. It inspired a whole generation of musicians. Dylan continued to have an important impact on the history of rock for many decades. He has received hundreds of awards for his songwriting, recording and performances. He got a Pulitzer Prize in 2008 for his “profound impact on popular music and American culture, marked by lyrical compositions of extraordinary poetic power”. He still plays 100 dates a year. Showing no signs of slowing down, Dylan has continued to tour and released studio albums including Together Through Life (2009), Tempest (2012), Shadows in the Night (2015) and Fallen Angels (2016). His songs describe the second half of the twentieth century and many became traditional protest songs in the sixties. People believe he is the greatest living poet. The legendary singer-songwriter has received Grammy, Academy and Golden Globe awards, as well as the Presidential Medal of Freedom and, in 2016, the Nobel Prize for Literature.
