Comparative Form
Assim como em português, os adjetivos em inglês podem sofrer variação em grau (comparativo e superlativo). Os adjetivos, quando usados como comparativos, têm a função de comparar uma característica ou qualidade um substantivo com outro.
Veja alguns exemplos:
- cold → colder than
- crazy → crazier than
- dangerous → more dangerous than
- difficult → more difficult than
- easy → easier than
- elegant → more elegant than
- expensive → more expensive than
Não segue um padrão de construção. Alguns são acrescidos de “er”, e outros usa-se com a palavra “more”. Por serem adjetivos utilizados na forma comparativa, independentemente se são acrescidos de “er” ou utilizado com “more”, devem ser seguidos da palavra “than”.
Assim podemos concluir que os adjetivos em inglês sofrem variação em grau. Quando utilizados como comparativos são acrescidos de "er" ou usados com a palavra "more".
