O Simple Past apresenta a seguinte estrutura de formação na forma afirmativa: sujeito + verbo no passado + complemento. Porém para as sentenças negativas é necessário utilizar o auxiliar “did” + “not” (ou a forma abreviada "didn't") e, também, o verbo deve vir sempre no infinitivo sem o “to. Ex:

Afirmativa: Camila drove from Havanna to Texas. (Camila dirigiu de Havanna ao Texas.)
Negativa: Camila didn't drive from Havanna to Texas. (Camila não dirigiu de Havanna ao Texas.)

Afirmativa: He kissed a girl. (Ele beijou uma garota.)
