Roberto Carlos Ramos
Roberto Carlos Ramos was born in a slum in Belo Horizonte. When he was 6 his mother took
him to FEBEM (Fundação Estadual do Bem-Estar do Menor).
He escaped from FEBEM more than a hundred times. He was illiterate and considered
“hopeless”. He learned to rob, to do drugs and to live on the streets. When he was 13 he met Marguerit
Duvas, a French woman who was he visiting Brazil.

Duvas adopted him. She took him to France where he learned the art of story-telling. He was
back to Brazil at the age of 19. Here, he graduated in Pedagogy and took a Master ́s Degree in
Education. In 2001, in San Diego, he was elected one of the greated story-tellers in the world.
He has already adopted 14 teenagers and is very proud of them.
