Superlatives

Para que possamos responder ambas as questões acerca do uso de superlativos na língua inglesa, em primeiro lugar precisamos compreender seu uso propriamente dito dentro da língua inglesa e suas estruturas específicas.

Os superlativos serão utilizados em situações nas quais iremos realizar uma comparação de algo ou alguém com o todo, e não apenas com um outro alguém/algo como nos comparativos. Ou seja, o superlativo podemos dizer que é algo relativo ao todo.

Dentro dessa classe gramatical, pode-se afirmar que o superlativo possui a sua forma regular e irregular. Dentro de sua forma regular, sabemos que para palavras curtas, iremos acrescentar a palavra "the", logo em seguida as letras "est" ao fim do substantivo, e por fim o complemento da frase. Para palavras compridas, iremos usar antes do substantivo as palavras "the most".

Já para os irregulares nessa classe de superlativos, temos o "melhor" e "pior", que iremos usar simplesmente as palavras "best" e "worst", respectivamente, sem usar as regras supracitadas para palavras curtas e compridas, uma vez que essas fogem do padrão dessa estrutura.
