Halloween's origins date back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain (pronounced sow-in). The Celts, who lived 2,000 years ago, mostly in the area that is now Ireland, the United Kingdom and northern France, celebrated their new year on November 1.

As origens do Halloween remontam ao antigo festival celta de Samhain (pronuncia-se semear). Os celtas, que viveram há 2.000 anos, principalmente na área que hoje é a Irlanda, o Reino Unido e o norte da França, comemoraram seu ano novo em 1º de novembro.
