I've heard that bad characters in movies do what they do because they've had a difficult past. I would say that they can rethink their attitudes. To my mind they might not make their past a justification for their actions. In my opinion this is how it should be. But I believe that they've become bad people because of their past, and it seems to me that everyone ends up regretting their actions at the end of the film. So I agree with that person's opinion.
