First Conditional, Second Conditional e Third Conditional
- a primeira oração é escrita no tempo presente simples; e
- na segunda oração o verbo vai para o futuro simples.
A estrutura é a seguinte:
- If + sujeito + verbo no simple present + sujeito + will + verbo.
- If + I + don't go to bed soon, + I + will + be tired in the morning (Se eu não for para a cama logo, ficarei cansado de manhã).
A negação e a interrogação dos verbos no presente (com exceção do verbo To be), se faz com o auxiliar do/does e, no futuro, com o auxiliar will.
A Second Conditional é do Tipo 2, onde:
- a primeira oração é escrita no passado simples; e
- na segunda oração usam-se verbos modais, mais um verbo no infinitivo.
A estrutura é a seguinte:
- If + sujeito + past simple + sujeito + verbo modal + verbo infinitivo.
- If + Lucy + had enough time,+ she + might + travel more. (Se Lucy tivesse tempo suficiente, ela poderia viajar mais).
Os modal verbs são: would (iria), might (poderia), could (poderia) e should (deveria).
A Third Conditional é do Tipo 3, e:
- a primeira oração é escrita no passado perfeito; e
- na segunda oração usam-se verbos modais + have + verbo no particípio passado.
A estrutura é:
- If + sujeito + past perfect + suj. + modal verbs + have + past participle.
- If + the baby + had slept better last night + I + wouldn't + have + been so tired.
