The Netherlands, also called Holland, is a wonderful
country in the west of Europe. The word "Netherlands
means lower countries, because of its low land. Only about
50% of its territory is more than 1 meter above the sea
level. Amsterdam is one of its largest cities and also its
capital. It is a canal city, with more than 100 canals. The
tulips and windmills are considered the symbols of the
country. During spring, these flowers bloom in a beautiful
way, bringing tourists from all over the world to see them.
