TEXT - A SCIENCE CLASS
Mr. Marques, the Science teacher, enters the classroom. He greets the students, sits down, calls the roll and unfolds a big chart with a drawing of the human body. He places the chart on the blackboard and starts his lessons:
Mr. Marques: Well everybody, this is the human body. This drawing shows the most important parts of the body. In our body, every part has an essential function. For example, we use our mouth to eat, our legs to walk, our nose to smell, our eyes to see, and so on.
Alice raises her hand.
Alice: Some parts of our body have more than one function.
Mr. Marques: Exactly! For example, we use the tongue to taste things but also to speak. Another example?
Richard raises his hand
Richard: The hands. We use them to grasp things, to write, to play a musical instrument, and so on.
Mr. Marques: Very good! And what’s one of the most important parts of the body?
Everybody: The heart!
Mr. Marques: Very good! The heart pumps all the blood that flows within our body.
Elizabeth: And it also makes us to fall in love!
