Brazil is the largest country in South America and the fifth in the world in territorial extension. With continental proportions, it extends over an area of 8,514,876.599 km². To the north, it is cut by the Equator, while to the south, by the Tropic of Capricorn. There are more than 206 million inhabitants who live mostly in cities, according to the 2010 Census. The population is formed by the interaction between European, African and native indigenous peoples. Later, after the liberation of the black slaves, the country received several immigration currents (Germans, Italians, Spaniards, Japanese and Syrian-Lebanese) that also contributed to the current ethnic formation of the population. The majority of Brazilians are black (50.74%). Whites correspond to 47.73% of the inhabitants.
