Well, I’ve been here in Seattle for exactly three months. It’s hard to believe because
so much has happened. I was pretty nervous before we left the U.K. but it’s been fine

O que parece, pela tradução, é que duas pessoas estão juntas pelo período de doze anos. Nesse caso, usamos For, indicando o período de tempo em que algo vem acontecendo. Consequentemente, Alan and I have been married for twelve years se traduz por Alan e eu estamos casados há(por) doze anos.
