A) Was established in North América in the 1600s.

B) The Americans soon developed a form of English that differed in a number of ways from The language spoken back in the British Isles. In some cases older forms were retained. The way most Americans pronouce the "r" sound after a vowel in words like "start,North,and letter" os probably Very similar to pronunciation in 17th century England.
