biodiversity in South America and is the world's largest tropical wetland, covering over 70,000 square
miles. It has a big biological diversity and is home to many animal species like birds, fish, mammals,
amphibians and reptiles. There are two seasons in Pantanal: dry and rainy. During the rainy season,
around 80% of the area is submerged. To protect the area, Pantanal is now part of the UNESCO World
Heritage.
