 The black death was a terrible disearse that swept European populations during the Middle Age, being responsible for sowing chaos and destruction all over the continent for several centuries.
  It had started on Asia, but went to the European continent around 1348, and came through Italian merchants by rats carring contaminated fleas. As the rats found good conditions, the plague easily spread to the rest of Europe and slew at least 1/3 of the population in that time. Many texts were written about it's lethality, while the Catholic Church thought it was a divine punishment to make people pay for their sins; However, it proved to be a lie, since the plague didn't show mercy and killed a great amount of priests and other religious.
