It´s used to compare one thing,person,plce,... to a group
1-add the+-est(short adjectives) -rich=the richest
2-When it ends in -y drop the -y and add the+-est - funny=the funniest
3-c+v+c = double the last consonant - fat=the fattest
4-3 or more syllables(long adjectives) add the+most - intelligent=the most intelligent
