Past perfect

Now I'm at school. But before I went to school, I had eaten a bread.

Before I got the bus, I had run to the bus stop

Subj. + Had + Past Participle + Compl.

PAST PERFECT happens before the SIMPLE PAST. In other words, it's the past of the past.


Join these sentences using the time expression "after":

a. Mary Jane had breakfast, then she went to work.

b. Mary Jane took a bus, then she arrived at work.

c. Mary Jane arrived home. She worked a lot.

d. Mary Jane had dinner, then she had a cup of tea to relax.
