Para transformar frases conjugadas no presente do indicativo para o pretérito ou seja, passado, basta substituir o verbo "to be" por "was" após os seguintes pronomes: I, He/She/It; e "were" após You, We, They.
1. I was your teacher.
2. You were my classmate.
3. She was in the restaurant.
4. He was the director.
5. We were friends.
6. They were in New York.
7. She was Australian.
8. I was at the shoppings center yesterday.
9. Helen was a new student.
10. We were at the airport.
Ou seja, o verbo "was" que representa a ação feita no passado, é usado para a 1º e 3º pessoa do singular, enquanto "were" é usado para a 1º, 2º e 3º pessoa do plural.
