O tempo verbal Presente Contínuo da Língua Inglesa (Present Continuous ou, ainda, Present Progressive) é usado para indicar ações que ainda estão em progresso no presente. Ele pode, ainda, ser empregado para falar sobre situações temporárias e de ações contínuas. As construções afirmativas no Present Continuous são dadas pelo sujeito, verbo to be conjugado no Presente Simples e um verbo no gerúndio (-ing form). É preciso que atentemos, porém, para o fato de que nem todas as palavras terminadas em –ing na Língua Inglesa são verbos no gerúndio: elas podem ser substantivos ou adjetivos, por exemplo.
