During the time of his struggle against the oppressive apartheid regime he joined the revolutionary group called ANC.  The group, and its armed chapter, known as MK, was involved in a series of acts classified as terrorism (like bombing civillian targets). Between the bombings and execution of political adversaries, Mandela's group was directly responsible for the deaths of at least 130 people.
