We Use past simple tense for referring to a completed action in the past; past continuous tense for referring to a continuous action going on at a specific time in the past and past perfect tense for referring to a n action which happened before another past action

Past simple tense -> ação completa que aconteceu no passado.
Past continuous tense -> uma ação contínua que aconteceu num momento específico do passado.
Past perfect tense -> ação que ocorreu antes de uma ação passada.
