Explicação:
Para fazer uma pergunta com o verbo "to be", que significa em inglês tanto "ser" quanto "estar", é bem fácil, basta inverter o verbo e o sujeito:
You are Brazilian. (Você é brasileiro.)
Are you Brazilian? (Você é brasileiro?)
Outro exemplo:
He is sick. (Ele está doente.)
Is he sick? (Ele está doente?)
E mais um exemplo:
They are old. (Eles são velhos.)
Are they old? (Eles são velhos?)
A única diferença é que no seu exercício o verbo be está no passado então em vez de is/am vai ser was e are vai ser were,mas o conceito é o mesmo
