Resposta:

There was é utilizado quando o sujeito está no singular, there wasn't quando está no singular e a frase negativa, there were com o sujeito no plural e there weren't no plural com a frase negativa.

a) There were (some children = algumas crianças, plural com frase positiva).

b) There was (a police officer = um oficial de polícia, singular com frase positiva).

c) There was (a lady = uma senhora, singular com frase positiva).

d) There were (two old people = duas pessoas velhas, plural com frase positiva).

e) There wasn't (any people = nenhuma pessoa/ninguém, singular com frase negativa*).

f) There were (some ducks = alguns patos, plural com frase positiva).

g) There wasn't (anybody = ninguém, singular com frase negativa*).

h) There were (some people = algumas pessoas) / there wasn't (anybody* = ninguém).

i) There wasn't (any rain = nenhuma chuva, singular com frase negativa*).

* O any é o que faz a frase negativa.
