Nota: Aqui você deve prestar atenção que não é necessário repetir aquilo que é possuído duas vezes numa frase, uma vez que ele já foi citado antes.

Is that your umbrella? No, it's Rebecca's.

Esse guarda-chuva é seu? Não, é da Rebeca.

Resumo:

  • O genitive case ou possessive case é utilizado para indicar que algo pertence ou está associado a alguém ou a alguma coisa.
  • Para isso, utiliza-se o apóstrofo + s ('s) após o sujeito possuidor (quem possui tal coisa).

Exemplo: Helena’s cat is cute. (O gato de Helena é fofinho.)

  • Se a palavra já terminar em S, não é necessário acrescentar outro S depois do apóstrofo, apenas ele.

Exemplo: The kids’ toys are broken. (Os brinquedos das crianças estão quebrados.)

Existem outras regras também, mas se eu colocar aqui vai ficar muito grande. Esse é apenas o básico do genitivo. Bons estudos!
