The year 1665 was very bad for England. An epidemic of a terrible disease, bubonic plague, killed over seventy yhousad people just in London. Issac Newton was then a student at Cambridge University, near London. They closed the univerity because of the plague and Newton retutned to his mother”s farm in the country, to continue his studies at home.
The plague interruped newton’s college education but in the 18 months that folled, the Young Issac( he was 22 at the time) started a vasst exploration of the Universe. He worked on many dificult problems in diferente fields of scienc, with incredible results: He discovered the laws of montion, the three laws of mecanics that dicribe the montion of a body. He invented a new mathematical system to prove his theories: calculus. He proved that White light is composed of all the colors of the rainbow. And he invented a new kind of telescope, the reflecting telescope.
One day Newton was in his Garden when he watched na aplle fall from a tree to the ground. Inspired by this observation, hebdiscovered the law of gravity, abot the gravitacional force that attracts all objects in the Universe. Correlating that theory with his laws of motion, Newton explaned mathematically the of the planets. He also proved that the gravitational force of the Moon and the Sun causes tides in the oceans of the Earth.
Isaac Newton explored the Universe and contruted the foundations of modern scienc for the benefit of all mankind.
