Eat Kangaroo to “Save the Planet”
Environmental activists are asking Australians to help save the planet- by eating more Kangaroo.

Kangaroo may be cute animals and they are Australia’s national icon, but they destroy crops and pastures and are regarded as pests by Australian farmers. And now there is a campaign to encourage people to eat more kangaroo meat, which us very healthy and low in fat. “Kangaroo meat excellente,” Dr.George Wilson,a scientist from the University of South Wales says. “Not unlike venison only a differente favour”.
“Eating kangaroo burgers instead of beef could also significantly cut greenhouse gas emission s,” says Dr”. Wilson. “Removing seven million cattle and 36 million sheep by 2020 and replacing them with 175 million kangaroos could lower national greenhouse gases by three per cent a year”, adds the Australian scientist.
Environmental activists like Greenhouse also urge kangaroo consumpt ion to fight global warming. The reason is that the methane gas produced by sheep and cows through belching and flatulence is more harmful to the environment than the carbono dioxide produced by cars. Sheep and cattle in Australia alone produce 11 per cento f the nation’s total emissions and that is a big problem. Now Dr. Wilson believes Kangaroos may hold the answer to that problem. Kangaroos do not emit greenhouse gases. They produce virtually no methane because they are not ruminants. The microorganisms in their stomachs are diferente from those found in sheep and cattle. Instead of methane, they produce acetate, a chemical that improves digestion. So we migh even say that Kangaroo have environment-friendly stomachs.
Changong our meat consumption habits may be a small way but it will certainly make a positive impact on the environment. Australians say eating Kangaroo will save the world. So, if you live in Australia, forget about beef and lamb. Eat Kangaroo and help save the planet.

O artigo refere aos cangurus, eles são oriundos da Austrália. Está sendo pedido aos australianos para que comam mais cangurus. Isso pode acontecer por meio de caças legais (as que tenham permissão de horário, estação e local para acontecer). Há uma relação de causa e efeito, já que com um número menor de cangurus no ambiente haverá menos destruição de plantações e pastagens antes causadas por eles.
