In your opinion, what is the importance of science in the world?
Science involves “results of studies” from different areas of knowledge. Read the definitions of the words below
and answer the questions in Portuguese.
Science is “knowledge from the careful study of the structure and behavior of the physical world, especially by
watching, measuring, and doing experiments, and the development of theories to describe the results” of
studies. Math is “the study of numbers, shapes, and space using reason and usually a special system of symbols
and rules for organizing them.” Language is “a system of communication consisting of sounds, words, and
grammar, or the system of communication used by people in a particular country or type of work.
If language is “a system of communication”, it will be found in scientific publications. In the past, most scientific
publications were made in Latin, but nowadays English has replaced Latin, and it is the global language of
communication, mainly in scientific publications.
