Tokyo is the cradle of modernity. The capital of Japan is one of the main destinations for those who want to discover or create styles of clothes and accessories, as well as staying inside the technological innovations.
Formerly known as Edo, the region came to be called Tokyo after 1868, when Emperor Meiji began the process of renewing the country, moved to Tokyo and gave it the new name meaning "Capital of the East."
Until then, Edo Castle was already the administrative center of Japan and the development of the region was so large that, in 1914, the Tokyo Station was inaugurated.
However, the area still suffered great losses and difficulties. In 1923, for example, the earthquake that hit the Kanto region left Tokyo destroyed and took years to rebuild. After the events of World War II, in 1945, the city underwent another period of reconstruction. Even so, the economic opportunities of the 1950s and 1960s helped the population to feel comfortable and secure to live and work in the region.
Since then, even with economic ups and downs, Tokyo is the center of modernity. With a well-established public transport system, it is difficult to find a place that you can not go by subway or train.
