Halloween is a very old and traditional celebration. Many centuries before Christ, the Celts occupied England and Ireland. They thought that winter was the time of evil spirits, because of the long winter nights. October 31st was the last day before winter, so they made big fires and dressed ugly costumes to scare the evil spirits. Centuries later, the Irish introduced something new to this day. Groups of people dressing their costumes went from house to house asking for food for their halloween festivities. When they arrived at a house they said, “Trick or Treat!”. People in the house should give them some food, otherwise they were victims of some trick. Today, Halloween is a tradition for children and adults. Ghosts, witches, black cats, jack-o-lanterns, monsters, etc. are typical costumes of this celebration. Children go to houses and say: “Trick or treat!”, and people give them candies.
