Romeo and Juliet William Shakespeare wrote his first version of Romeo and Juliet in 1595. There were other versions of the story, and a poem, before Shakespeare's version. I am going to tell you about this tragedy.

There are two important families that are always fighting: the Montagues and the Capulets. Romeo is a Montague and Juliet is a Capulet. The problem is that they fall in love when they meet and they don’t know that their families are enemies. When they find out, it’s too late because they’re already in love. Romeo goes to see a priest, Friar Lawrence, and he asks the priest to marry him and Juliet in secret. Then the Capulets and the Montagues start fighting again and they kill Romeo’s friend. He’s so angry that he kills a Capulet and has to leave the city. Meanwhile, Juliet’s dad says she has to marry a man called Paris. Her dad doesn’t know Juliet has already married Romeo. The Friar gives Juliet a special potion so that people think that she’s dead and the Frier can take her to Romeo. But Romeo thinks Juliet is really dead. He's so sad that he kills himself with poison. Then Juliet wakes up, sees that Romeo is dead and kills herself with a knife. Finally, after Romeo and Juliet death Capulets and Montagues stop fighting
