First impressions in Australia

I am an American guy who moved to Australia some months ago. Here are some differences between the American and the Autralian lifestyles that called my attention:

Air conditioning: In America, the air conditioning is on whenever it is hot. Australians, instead, only use it on very hot days. I’m proud that I’ve turned the air conditioning only once this week!

Cash: In Australia, many stores and restaurants don’t take credit or debit cards. Last week I couldn’t buy some groceries because I was running out of cash. Well, I’ve learned my lesson. I’ve already taken all the cash that I need for this week!

Rugby: Australians don’t like American football very much. I’ve watched some rugby matches with some Australian friends and I’ve really enjoyed the sport! I haven’t tried playing it yet, but I think it is great.

Vocabulary: whenever (sempre que); instead (por sua vez; em vez disso); to run out of (estar sem).

You have just read a text from a travel blog, in which the author writes on some cultural differences between the United States and Australia. Now consider the following statements about the author of the text:

I. He is glad he still hasn’t made use of the air conditioning this week.

II. He has taken a lesson on how to use money in Australia.

III. He has never seen any local sports games.

IV. He has had a good time playing rugby with his Australian friends.

Choose the alternative that correctly indicates whether the statements above are true (T) or false (F), in the order they appear:

Escolha uma:
a.
F – T – F – T

b.
F – F – F – T

c.
F – T – F – F

d.
