Past continuous
Usa-se o Past Coninuous (passado contínuo) para se referir a ações que estavam em desenvolvimento em algum momento do passado.
Sua estrutura é assim:
Simple Past do verbo be (was ou were) + verbo no infinitivo (sem o to) + -ing.
Para a primeira pessoa (I) e para a terceira pessoa (he, she, it), usamos a forma verbal was. Por isso:
- He was watching (Eles estava assistindo);
- She is studying (Ela estava estudando);
- he is making (ele estava fazendo)
Para as demais pessoas (you, we, they), usamos were. Por isso:
- we are writing (nós estávamos escrevendo)
- Were you speaking...? (Você estava falando...?)
- They were not playing (Eles não estavam jogando)
