Bullying is a term that refers to all forms of aggressive, verbal or physical, intentional and repetitive attitudes that occur without obvious motivation and are exercised by one or more individuals, causing pain and anguish, with the purpose of intimidating or assaulting another person without having the possibility or ability to defend themselves, being carried out within an unequal relationship of forces or power.

Bullying is divided into two categories: a) direct bullying, which is the most common form among male aggressors and b) indirect bullying, which is the most common form among women and children, having as a characteristic the social isolation of the victim. In general, the victim fears the aggressor because of the threats or even the physical or sexual violence or the loss of means of subsistence.

Bullying is a worldwide problem, and can occur in almost any context in which people interact, such as school, college / university, family, but can also occur in the workplace and between neighbors. There is a tendency for schools not to admit the occurrence of bullying among their students; or are unaware of the problem or refuse to confront it. This type of aggression usually occurs in areas where the presence or supervision of adults is minimal or nonexistent. Included in bullying are pejorative nicknames designed to humiliate colleagues.
