In the Amazon Rainforest there's a community called Jamaraquá. They live in a restrict and protected area called Flona Tapajós. They can not cut trees or do agriculture, it's a protected area for the preservation. So, what do they do to live? They make handcrafts stuffs, such as bags, necklasses, key chains and so on. All these things are made out of latex from the Rubber Tree (Hevea brasiliensis). These products are marketed in national fairs and in local fairs.The production process is not so fast. They extract the latex, and in a recipient they put some substances over the raw material, and mix, mix, mix. After this process, they put the blanket latex to dry naturally. Sometimes they paint the latex. The result is a beautiful handcrafted material.
