String theory has also led to new discoveries in supersymmetry theory that could be tested experimentally by the Large Hadron Collider. The new mathematical principles used in this theory allow physicists to claim that our universe has 11 dimensions: 3 spatial (height, width and length), 1 temporal (time) and 7 curved dimensions (these being attributed other properties such as mass and electric charge , for example), which would explain the characteristics of the fundamental forces of nature.
