My brother, Sherman, was repairing his Vespa scooter on his verandah and his girlfriend, Dalilah,
was watching a movie in the living room. Sherman was accelerating the engine and, somehow,
it slipped into gear. The scooter dragged him through the glass door and into the house. After
smashing the glass door, a book stand and a chair, Sherman and the scooter stopped once they
hit the sofa. Dalilah called an ambulance.
Because they lived on a fairly large hill, Dalilah went down several flights of stairs to the street to
help the paramedics find the place. They took Sherman to the hospital. He had broken his arm
Meanwhile, Dalilah was cleaning up the mess at home. She cleaned up the gas that had spilled
on the floor from the scooter. She threw the paper towels, covered in gas, into the toilet. Whe
Sherman got home that night, he went into the bathroom, sat on the toilet and smoked a
cigarette. After finishing the cigarette, he threw it into the toilet bowl.
Dalilah, upon hearing the explosion, found Sherman on the floor in the hallway. He had suffe
very serious burns. Dalilah then called for another ambulance. The same ambulance crew car
to the house. As they were loading Sherman onto the stretcher and began carrying him dow
the stairs, one of the paramedics asked how Sherman had burned himself. Dalilah told him, a
the paramedics started laughing so hard, one of them tripped. The stretcher tilted, and Sher
fell down the stairs and broke his ankle.

Several pieces of furniture were destroyed in the accident.
