Shakira was born in Colombia, in the city of Barranquilla, on February 2, 1977. At the age of four she began taking classes in Arab dance and began to show her talent for music at the age of eight when she wrote her first song. Two years later, she won several regional contests in her country. The first album - Magic - was released at 13 and featured a compilation of songs written by her between the ages of eight and ten. Even disqualified from the Oti Festival in Spain (the minimum age was 16 and Shakira, at the time, was 15), she did not shake and took the opportunity to record the second CD, Peligro. Then came Pies Descalzos that, due to international recognition, led to a two-year tour of Latin America and the United States.
